Carolynn and Dave’s Mini Challenges.

With a sturdy base to develope upon I set about constructing my ‘nose cone’, thoughts of rockets and such like are way off here, I was aiming at more a Condor Wavepiercer look.

To create the nose cone proved troublesome, in the end I opted for two Mini door skins which have a nice curved shape which exactly matches the side contour of the Mini rear end, this made attaching the nose cone to the rest of the trailer much easier.

I got a little carried when making the cone and forgot to take any pictures along the way, but as you can see from the pictures below, it came together in the end ....

Next was some kind of plan to create the lid. I chose to use the rear half of the Mini roof when I discovered that the roof of a mini is much narrower at the back compared to the front, something I’d never noticed on the car itself.

The rear part of the roof is fairly near the right curve and shape to fit the back end and all it needed was some kind of front applying.

When cutting the roof in half it loses all its strength and goes extreemely floppy, this proved troublesome and if I was ever to do it again I’d have strengthened the roof first before cutting. However with the front piece welded on and a box section made to give strenght and somewhere for the hinges to mount it was created. To be honest I’m not sure I like the shape of it so it might get replaced sometime but after the amount of work that went into it its staying for a while.
